  The Terre Haute South Athletic Department is proud to announce the winners of the Winter Sports Awards Most Improved Athlete. The winners are divers Grace Foltz and Ike Hults. Both Grace and Ike stepped up to help their teams this past winter. Good luck to both athletes and keep improving!

Jay Engle Award-Lauren Kirchner and Moses Hamm

Terre Haute South Athletic Department is proud to announce the winners of the Jay Engle Academic Award. This award is given to the athletes that display leadership in their sport and in the classroom. This seasons winners are Girls Swimming and Diving’s Lauren Kirchner and Wrestling’s Moses Hamm. Congratulations to you both!  

Girls Swimming Student Council Award-Lauren Kirchner

The athletic department and girls swimming and diving team are proud to announce this years winner of our Student Council Award. This year’s winner is senior Lauren Kirchner. Lauren is a captain and state qualifier for our team. Lauren plans to attend Butler University and continue to swim. Congratulations Lauren!

Swimming Sectional Results

On Saturday, many of our female swimmers completed their season. For one, she’ll have the opportunity to continue her sophomore year. Haley Sakbun won both the 200 and 500 Freestyle. She will compete this Friday at the State Finals. Other Results: 200 medley relay-4th-1:55.87-Chow, Sakbun, Smith, Kirchner 200 free 16th- 2:11.26-Maria Hillyer 1st-1:54.85- Haley Sakbun

Both Swim Teams Compete in Conference Indiana Championships

On Saturday, both teams competed in the highly competitive Conference Indiana Championships. They were held at the Vigo County Aquatic Center. Highlights from the meet: Ike Hults, 7th, Diving Grace Foltz, 3rd, Diving Ava Thompson, 4th, Diving Ava Rose, 5th, Diving Haley Sakbun, 2nd, 200 and 500 Free Lauren Kirchner, 7th, 50 and 100 Free

Both Swim Teams Come Up Short Against THN

Both swim teams were defeated by Terre Haute North on Thursday night. The meet featured the debut of the Trident (girls) and Anchor (boys) traveling trophies. The girls got multiple wins from Lauren Kirchner and Haley Sakbun, while Ike Hults took home diving for the boys. They return to action next Thursday at Plainfield.
